ck's archive: das boot

It took three weeks, but I've finally sent Das Boot back to Netflix. I usually try to get my money's worth by watching and returning DVDs quickly, and there are a number of factors that can interrupt that cycle. Das Boot proved to be a four-dimensional corner case, with four different factors slowing me down:

1. Length: I have to plan for a three and a half hour film.
2. Importance: Sometimes I just don't feel like watching a heavy movie.
3. Language: I hate dubbing, so I have to read most foreign language films; I can't work on anything else while they're on.
4. Mel: On the rare occasion that Mel wants to watch one of my Netflix rentals, I save it until our schedules line up.

We managed to get over the inconvenience of enjoying a movie and watched in in three chunks over three nights. Good movie.
