I got some hands-on experience with a Wii on Christmas day. My cousin Sean brought his over to my parents' house and the family had a good time. It was surprisingly jarring when the main menu came up and I had to point the wiimote at the option I wanted; it was just too obvious and simple for a video game.
The whole family got in on the fun and we ended up playing each of the games that come bundled in Wii Sports. I ended up doing pretty well at tennis and baseball, and not so well at golf and bowling. Boxing was especially rough for me; Mel and Julia both beat me up pretty badly. Such are the perils of new gaming paradigms. That, and I stressed something in my elbow swinging away in the home run derby.
As planned, I'll be getting a Wii when the tax refund comes my way next month.
