Election Day (18 comments)

I'm waiting for Mel to get home so we can go vote together, so I've been passing the time reading some of the bulk-mailings that we've received. The first mailing of note was from the mayor of Champaign, encouraging me to vote for Judy Myers for the Illinois State Senate. His letter had enough mis-punctuations that I'll vote against her on grammatical principle.

Naomi Jakobsson is running for the Illinois House on an anti-gun plan. Her mailings generally show pictures of military firearms and state that those weapons were designed to kill people and should only be used by soldiers.

And I wholly agree with that.

She goes on to explain why such assault weapons should be kept out of the hands of civilians, which is a problem. The whole point of the second amendment is to allow regular citizens the capacity to become soldiers and rise up against a bad government. If she doesn't understand that, she doesn't get my vote.
