IceWeasel (11 comments)
There has been a steadily building conflict between the Debian Linux folks and the Mozilla Firefox folks for a while now. As best I can tell, it goes something like this:
Debian: We've got some killer patches to make Firefox fit with the way we do things. And we think they also make it more secure.
Mozilla: Cool, we'll have a look at them and see if we can figure out how to use your ideas in the official releases.
Debian: About that... we're planning to release the new version with these changes way before you'll have a chance to do all that.
Mozilla: That's fine, but you can't use our "Firefox" trademarks if you're going to ship a product that's different from ours.
Debian: We're hippies and we find that unreasonable.
Mozilla: Sorry, but it's clearly laid out in our rules for trademark usage. You're welcome to go ahead and release your version on schedule and call it something else or wait for us to integrate your patches into Firefox.
Debian: Well, we can't wait for you, so we'll go with the former and call it "IceWeasel."
Mozilla: We'd prefer you worked with us, but it's well within your rights to do that, so we won't stop you.
Debian: IceWeasel!
Mozilla: Yes, you said that.
Debian: And your artwork isn't free enough for us.
Mozilla: Yes, that's what trademarks do.
One of the inconveniences with being unable to use Mozilla's trademarks is the inablility to use the official Firefox artwork:

But the community quickly came up with a few replacements. It appears that this one is among the most popular:

The IceWeasel icon seemed a bit shady to me, with the weasel looking like it's humping the globe. I've taken it upon myself to do some image editing and finish the icon for them:
