We finally did something about the baby blue master bedroom. After much discussion, Mel and I decided to paint the walls a darker blue with a white ceiling and trim. I'll have pictures in a few weeks when it's all done. As of now, the walls and ceiling are painted, but the trim needs to be touched-up and all of the outlets and switches and associated covers need to be replaced.
There were of course a few surprises. We ended up needing twice as much paint for the walls as we'd expected, since it needed three coats to fully conquer the baby blue and we've got a rough surface on the walls for more surface area. And when it came time to clean up, we washed everything in the bathtubs having determined that they should be immune to the paint. As it turns out, the tubs themselves were fine, but all of the soap scum turned blue. I decided that last night was as good of a time as any to scrub the tubs, and now everything's back to normal.
It won't be too much work, but we'll be going out of town in the near future, so some of the finishing will have to be postponed.
