Boston: Day Four (4 comments)

After today's round of conference learning, Ben took me to meet some of his Boston friends. I provided moral support and clean paper towels to Josh's outboard-motor-cleaning efforts while Scott and Ben figured out how to get everyone to the bar so we could see The Swinging Johnsons. The Johnson brothers put on a good show, but it shouldn't be a surprise that I like a classic rock cover band. I have to like a band that puts Journey, Boston, and two different Queen songs in their set (Under Pressure and Fat Bottomed Girls). Besides, it gave me a chance to see people grinding to a Bon Jovi song. To think that I might have gone my entire life without knowing that people enjoy Livin' on a Prayer so intimately!
I got a quick campus tour of MIT when I accompanied Ben to pick up his new parking pass. I was surprised by how much of campus I recognized from photos. There was the zany multicolored right-angle-o-phobic building, the dome that's been featured on the internet for oh so many hacks, and the big red sculpture that served as the backdrop for Miss September's photo shoot in the Women of the East Side Calendar (though I'm told the sculpture has moved since its moment of glory).
As neat as it all is, it's not worth the traffic and stress of getting around. I'm not good at cities.
