Computers: Still Hard (2 comments)
The new motherboard I bought for marvin is too big for the case I bought. Here in the days where most motherboards are Micro ATX, I didn't even think to check if my server board was extended ATX. Oh well, it wasn't too expensive. I've still got more Slot-1 cpus than I need, along with some extra RAM, so I'm entertaining the idea of mounting the new board google-style: no case, just a motherboard and a power supply sitting on a shelf with cables running to them. It'd work well and look cool, but I've no idea what I would do with another server. the hardware in question is a dual Pentium 2 450 with 512MB of memory, so decently capable. Ideas?
Inspired by Kevin Smith and Joss Whedon's glowing praise, I've been watching Veronica Mars. I never thought that my TiVo would meet UPN, but I'm enjoying the show.
Also thanks to Kevin Smith (though much less directly), I set up a season pass for My Name Is Earl. Jason Lee is funny.
But all is not well in my TV schedule. FOX was silly enough to put House up against My Name Is Earl and Nova, so there's no way I can watch it. If there's a silver lining to all this, it's that I got a chance to call one of my co-workers a "luddite" today when she suggested I stop watching Nova to make time for House. That's a word I don't often get to use, like "quotidian" and "forwent."
