Elliptical (2 comments)
Ii bought an elliptical machine a few weeks ago as an attempt to artificially introduce exercise to my lifestyle. I knew that I'd never go to a gym regularly, so I decided it would be best to try and integrate a workout into something I already did at home for hours at a stretch: watching television. So far, my plan's been successful. After a few weeks, I can now go over 40 minutes without dying and I've lost a few pounds. The only problem was the deterioration of the wheels:
Mel observed that the wheels used by our unit looked an awful lot like rollerblade wheels, so I took to measuring. It turns out that she was dead on, and I found some much harder wheels to replace the relatively soft OEM equipment. They came in yesterday, and I installed them:
The little black bits in the photo are chunks of the original wheels that flew off during use. The change has made the elliptical machine better than new. It's smoother, quieter, and somehow more pleasant than it was when I first put it together. And if I tear up these wheels, I've got six more (they only come in 8-packs).
