ck's archive: webcam progress

I got the webcam earlier this week. It came apart surprisingly easily, and I managed to remove the infrared filter and put it back together without breaking it. The abundance of infrared screws up its color output. I'd expected that, but I was surprised at how strong the effect was. Mel's black chair shows up as lavender, and the brown-with-black-shirt monkey that sits on top of my monitor doesn't have any of the right colors. But it does video, so I wasn't able to resist pointing it at the preview window for the obligatory recursive shot:
