I was in Chicagoland again this weekend for a pair of weddings. That's right, two weddings in two days! Tim and Susan tied the knot on Saturday, and it was great. I'm really happy for both of them. Curious to me was the church that hosted their ceremony. Compared to my last experience, this church was much more comfortable. Where the last one was oppressive, this was a sanctuary where I think it'd be nice to do some reading. As with last time, the minister asked those present to raise their hands above the couple, but this time, he asked for both hands, so it was considerably less Nazi-ish. though with both arms outstretched, it's awfully easy to take a zombie's pose.

But I had bigger problems than being mistaken for a zombie. I realized about half an hour into my drive that I'd left my tie in Champaign. Not only that, but I'd also left the sheets that I was supposed to bring to put on Julia's couch. Luckily, she lives but a few blocks from a Wal-Mart. I stopped by, found a pair of ties, a set of sheets, and after waiting out the express checkout line, I was on my way to the wedding, dressed for action. After I returned, though, I learned that the suburbs are sorely lacking in their late night shopping options. Both the Wal-Mart and Big-K were closed by 10:30!

At Tim's reception, I got to explain to one of my suburban table mates that we don't consider Champaign to be in "Southern" Illinois. Southern Illinois is where Alan Keyes won a few counties in last year's senate race, and that even scares us.

Today was Liz's wedding, and the train station in Joliet has a surprisingly nice party area. The wedding was nice, but the socialization was odd. Everyone who Mel and I knew there was also at Tori & Theo's wedding a month ago. And really, we're boring people. Notable about the wedding was the maid of honor's double-duty as the celebrant. She did a good job at both. Mel and I had to run out at the beginning of the reception to play with Dana.

Presently, Mel and Dana are attempting to turn sudoku into a drinking game (and it looks to be working) and I'm catching up on The Daily Show.
