A fabulous storm rolled through town Thursday evening. I saved my Final Fantasy VII game just in time to step out onto the front porch and watch all the houses on the street go dark in unison. Power was quickly restored, only to drop away again a few seconds later.
Unfortunately, ford isn't using a UPS, so it turned off. The outage caused an asynchrony between the software on the machine and the software's configuration, since I'd not yet updated the config files after installing updates. It took a few hours to get things back in order Friday night. There's nothing like coming home from a long week of work to some more system administration.
I was cleaning up the datacenter today and found that I had nine floppy cables for two drives. It would appear that I finally need to throw a few things away.
