Batman Begins (5 comments)

Batman Begins lived up to my expectations. My only complaint is that there are a few scenes that show Batman streaking across the screen to take out a bad guy really quickly and it would have been nice to see those at a higher framerate. I realize that we who have been spoiled by 90 fps computer games are a tiny majority, but now that I've played first person shooters at high framerates for so long, 24 fps on the movie screen looks choppy.

Technical complaints aside, I liked the characters' style: nobody was played in a particularly outlandish fashion, including the villians. There were plenty of kinks in the plot that I didn't expect, and we learned an impressive amount about Bruce Wayne without the tedious documentary feeling that too often comes with the explanation of a character's background and motivation.

I'll buy the DVD.

When I was home over the weekend, my sister and I did some digging through Wal-Mart's $5.50 DVD bin and I found Sneakers, Top Secret!, Hot Shots!, and The Muppets Take Manhattan. On the shelf of $4.88 DVDs, I found Lethal Weapons 2, 3, and 4. I'm pleased.

On my way back to Champaign, I saw two NSXs on the other side of the interstate. That's uncommon in these parts.
