Another Weird Dream (6 comments)

I hate the dreams where I'm tasked to do something because I always keep going back to sleep to try and finish the job.

This time, I'd been told that there was an awesome Jefferson Airplane cover of the Super Mario Brothers level 1-1 theme song. Word was that Grace Slick had lyricized it in a way that couldn't be explained except by hearing it. It sounded pretty cool, so I set out on my quest. I eventually thought I'd found the recording on the back of a fraternity's barcrawl t-shirt from the late 70's, but I was told that wasn't it. The shirt I had was more valuable than the one I sought, though, due to the historical significance of a bomb scare that had brought that year's barcrawl to a premature end. That's when I gave up, got out of bed, and went to work.

Kevin Smith likes Episode 3. Hhis review is packed with spoilers, but nothing I wasn't expecting. I find his excitement promising, and I hope it means I'll be right in telling my co-workers that Episode 3 will necessarily be better than Episodes 1 and 2 just based on what plot has to occur. I'll hide the rest of this rant, since I feel like spoilers are about to flow from my fingers.

What the movie has going for it:

  1. Tom Stoppard is assisting with writing the dialogue, which I think to be the weakest element of Lucas' screenwriting. It takes a lot to make Liam Neeson look like a bad actor.
  2. Even if the dialogue is still lacking, at some point, anakin will cease to be voiced by Hayden Christensen and James Earl jones will take over.
  3. Light saber battle: Obi-Wan vs. Anakin.
  4. Light saber battle: Obi-Wan vs. General Grievous.
  5. Light saber battle: Mace Windu vs. Palpatine.
  6. Light saber battle: Yoda vs. Palpatine.
  7. The Battle of Coruscant.

That's a lot of conflict and special effects, and that's what Lucasfilm does really well. My only concern is that they might leaving a few ends untied to be explored in the two TV series that were just announced.
