...And in The Darkness Bind Them (0 comments)
I had the pleasure of viewing The Fellowship of the Ring on its opening night, in a surprisingly not-sold-out theatre. I realized this week that it's been almost ten years since I read the prequel and book, so my memory of the details is quite foggy and malleable by filmmakers' interpretations. That said, I enjoyed the film immensely and now I really want to be an elf. Not only was legolas a badass warrior, but all the elven ladies are (by definition, I suppose) really hot.
There were a few actors who surprised me with their presence in the movie. Elrond is played by hugo weaving (Agent Smith in The Matrix), Sam Wise is Sean Astin (the main Goonie and Rudy), and Liv Tyler plays Arwen. I kept thinking of them in other roles, but that's my fault for letting my mind wander from the tale.
More than anything, it makes me want to read the book[1] again to straighten out the details that have faded in the passing years. Being a visual learner, the movie didn't help me much with the names and relationships (I got some help from IMDB for the above paragraph). Hopefully, I'll be able to find some time, at least for the first 2/6 of it...
[1] For the pedantic, Lord of the Rings is a single book, made up of six sections, distributed as three pairs of those sections.
