I've Blogged That (10 comments)
I wore my "I'm blogging this." t-shirt tonight, so I'm obliged to blog my thoughts on The Oscars. Here are my notes:
- Renée Zellweger still looks like she's about to start crying at any moment.
- Al Pacino seemed chemically infused, and I'm wondering exactly what chemicals were involved.
- Sean Penn seemed to have been hanging out with Al Pacino before his appearance.
- Salma Hayek's boobs were marvelously well-behaved, and Mel's added her to the list of celebrities I have permission to sleep with in the infinitely unlikely event that an opportunity should present itself.
- The internet was spot on that they'd give Clint Eastwood the big awards and try and make it up to Martin Scorsese by giving the award to The Aviator in every other category that saw it nominated.
- Johnny Depp looked more dapper than I'd thought was possible even for him.
- House of Flying Daggers wasn't even nominated for best international film. I wanted to cheer for it.
- Just like last year, I thought the acceptance speech for best actress was over the top and should have been played off the stage.
- I never like how all the dresses try to fit a theme. this year, it was bubbling boobs, tight thighs, and poofy bottoms. I can only assume that this season's hollywood diet left the starlets with fat ankles.
- The MasterCard commercial with the gas station attendant made me laugh.
In even less realistic news, Star Trek fans are claiming progress in their quest to fund another season of the cancelled Star Trek: Enterprise through fan donations. To date, they've raised nearly $63,000 of their $32,000,000 goal. I'm not sure I understand why they're doing this. Unlike other series, one company owns the rights and does all the production for Star Trek. If they don't want the series to continue, it won't. They won't allow production or allow the rights to be transferred, so this all seems futile to me.
More than anything, though, I wish people would put their efforts toward a better cause. Firefly and Farscape come to mind.
