Holiday Recap in Short (2 comments)
The house still smells a little bit smoky. I'd decided it would be romantic for the two of us to spend Christmas Eve on the couch with a comforter, a few DVDs that I let Mel open early (Will Vinton's Claymation Christmas, A Charlie Brown Christmas, and A Muppet Family Christmas), and a fire going in the woodburning stove. Unfortunately, the stove didn't work quite as I'd expected it to and I ended up allowing a good bit of smoke into the house while I coaxed the fire to self-sufficience. We ended up with the windows and back door open, blowing fresh air through the room, but due to the stove's placement in the room and the abilities of the blower feeding its heat exchanger, we were still treated to a warm couch.
Among a bunch of other awesome presents, Mel and I got an infrared thermometer for Christmas. As one might expect, I've been pointing it at everything I see for about a week now, marvelling in my technological empowerment.
While at my parents' house this weekend, I got the opportunity to watch The Terminal and Big Fish. Both made me cry. I also got to catch a few episodes of the SciFi Channel's Twilight Zone marathon. While awesome, it didn't make me cry.
Incidentally, while checking my SciFi.com links above, I read about Freejack, which stars Emilio Estevez, Mick Jagger, and Anthony Hopkins. Those three... together... same movie... brain hurt it makes.
Doing some year-end accounting, I noticed that my webserver got over five times as many requests in 2004 as it did in 2003. I blame RSS.
