I learned today that I'm better with Linux security than I'd thought. Our Knoppix CDs have trojans pre-installed by the instructor, and most of our exercises today involved finding or exploiting them. I ended up finding a trojan listening for telnet that wasn't visible to nmap or netstat that we're apparently not expected to find until tomorrow and I managed to break into about half of the class' laptops. I was attempting to extend my script to sum the room's total BogoMips when the instructor decided it was time to move on, so I was unfortunately unable to continue my research.

Also, Knoppix is continuously reminding me that I hate KDE. I suppose it might be less aggravating when used with a real mouse instead of laptop inputs, but that doesn't make up for it being huge. On the other hand, I'm a crazy minimalist Fluxbox user and it's hard to move to something so complex after being used to running something small and simple on faster hardware.
