Cornering Bliss (11 comments)
As planned, Beaumont installed my new tires on Friday. I haven't tried too hard to abuse them, but I'm very much pleased by their performance. The ride is noticeably quieter and the bumps in the road feel muted compared to the WRX's stock Bridgestones. Not only that, but I've put them through a few corners that would've had all four of the old tires sliding and found that the car held the road with no sliding, no squealing, and no understeer... just cornering. I've only broken their grip on the road once so far, and that was more hydroplaning than skidding, so I'm not counting it. I'm optimistic to see how they perform in the long run since they're starting out so well and are warranted for 60,000 miles. It makes me wonder why Subaru opted to choose tires that don't work nearly as well and cost nearly twice as much for their OEM equipment.
I enjoyed the debate on Friday, especially the parts where Bush repeatedly cut off the moderator asking for a chance to respond as the moderator was attempting to invite him to respond. Kerry did well to explain that flip-flopping is an oversimplification, and Jay already summed up the best instance of that so I won't. What I will do is leave you with my two favorite Bush quotes from the night:
"We need to be lighter, quicker, and more fastal."
"I hear there is rumors on the internets..."
I really don't think it's too much to ask that the leader of the free world be able to speak his native language.
