Futon (0 comments)

This is the best time of year to buy furniture in a college town. Every Spring, as graduation draws near, international students realize that their student visas will expire when they cease to be a student and they'll have to leave the country and it's inconvenient to move an apartment's worth of furniture overseas. The same thing applies to some out-of-state students, but not nearly as dramatically. Regardless, there now exists a large population of people selling furniture for cheap.

Mel and I bought a futon, a matching coffee table, a generic desk, and a toaster yesterday. The futon is comfy. We're still looking for a kitchen table/chairs set that we like and I figure it's about time to move up from the card table/wooden tabletop that's served me so well to a real computer desk (like I bought Mel this time last year).

Today was a rough start to the work week. I forgot to set my alarm, so I slept through my 5:00-7:00 AM patching window, and when I did get up, I couldn't find my pager. The patching's no big deal since I have another window tomorrow, but I don't like skipping on work duties. I later found my pager in my car, cleverly camouflaged as a piece of the driver's seat's black plastic. everything's working out, though I'll have to get up at 5:00 AM tomorrow.
