The start of the fall season, though delayed, has been pretty good. New episodes of South Park, The Simpsons, and The Family Guy made it quite a good week. I particularly enjoyed The Tick. While the pilot episode had the usual weaknesses (finding ways to introduce all the characters), I thought the the actor portraying The Tick was phenomenal in the role.
I associate The Tick with saying "I am the man of La Mancha," which reminds me of high school Spanish class where we read Don Quixote and El Cid. For one of those stories we read, a question on one of our quizzes asked us to describe some guy's role in the story. I didn't remember exactly who the name referred to, but I thought it might be the hero's uncle. Of course, I also couldn't remember the word for "uncle," so I wrote that he was "un hombre con quien <the story's hero> tenia relaciones," meaning to say "a man to whom the hero was related." It turns out that it actually translates to "a man with whom the hero had sex." I thought that was funny, but la professora didn't.
Good football game on saturday. Everyone's happy that we won such a close game. That's nice and all, but I'm thinking we'd be better off if we just didn't suck for the first half. [ed: Chris is not a football analyst]
