I took my WRX in for an oil change on Monday. The dealership where I purchased it treats their service like crack in that a customer's first oil change is free. Presumably, the customer will be so impressed with the service that they'll come back for subsequent visits. Anyway, I was lured over to the dealership by the promise of a free (and necessary) oil change. While I was waiting, it was brought to my attention that my car had recently rolled over the 15,000 mile mark and was thus due for scheduled maintenance. I ended up reading through all the car magazines in the waiting room and found myself particularly intrigued by the Ford Ma concept car. It's made of titanium, carbon fiber and bamboo, and there are no welds in the entire vehicle. iI's nothing that'll to replace my car, but it's certainly cute.
Mel's on day three of her new job at NexVu, and back in Champaign. it seems that she has a lot of work to do before their product launch. I also got the impression that they want her to end up working from their Schaumburg office full time instead of commuting there when necessary. For instance, her office phone number is an extension from the Schaumburg number. Also, they refused her request for a laptop, instead giving her a desktop machine and telling her to just carry it with her for commutes between the offices. It all seems kinda shady to me.
Bush gave his State of The Union address last night. I tuned in for about ten minutes to hear him express his desire to drop income taxes, give subsidized healthcare, and basically stop taking money from Americans. He failed to address what the government was planning to do without any money. It didn't take long before I got aggravated with the fairy tale and went back to playing Final Fantasy X. After that, I picked up Mel from the train station and we met Allie at Steak & Shake. She's had a rough weekend: big breakup, lots of crying, more talking, more crying, etc. So we listened to her and empathized and I gave her a hug. She's better, but it seems like she could really use a new boy.
