Yesterday, Rick and I went over to the campus garage to try and get some answers about the infamous red van (aka the big red love rocket). I've been calling them in the past weeks, and every time the person on the phone has required more time to try and find information on it and promised to call me back. I was never called back. So I was curious as to the real story when we visited yesterday. after a bit of searching, the ranking mechanic told us that he was pretty sure it had been considered totalled, which came as a surprise since it was only sent in to have the brakes repaired (as per the incident recounted in an old weblog entry). So we left the garage and I got back to work, having left Rick with the number and schedule of the guy who would know.
As it turns out, the van is fine. Rick got in touch with Housing's liason to the garage and found out the real story, which isn't nearly as entertaining as the one where the van was considered totalled. The bright side is that now, I get to tool around campus all day in a van instead of walking.
One of the beertuesday guys was last night telling me that the WRX sport wagon is highly preferable to the sedan. I'm planning to test drive the sedan on Friday morning. I'm anxious to see how well I fit into it.
