Guide is Done (6 comments)
I set up DHCPd on guide (the machine that sits between the apartment network and the internet) last night, so it's fully functional. The only thing left is to tell BIND that it can resolve fake internal IPs and maybe hook up DHCPd to update BIND on a new lease. But that's all optional. It works now, and I can just leave it in the corner and enjoy my fully-functional DSL.
I finished two more endurance races in Gran Turismo 3 (and won another Formula 1 car) yesterday while I waited for UPS to bring me my new switch. The power supply for my Asante switch died, and I realized that an 8-port Netgear was relatively cheap, and much easier to find than a replacement power supply for the 5-port Asante.
The next project will be to run Cat 5 along the ceiling of the apartment from the study to the couch, and then put an (as of yet undecided) operating system on the machine that'll be there.
