Church'n'State, Sounds Like a Cereal (3 comments)

A federal appeals court has ruled the pledge of allegiance unconstitutional -- specifically, the part about "under god." It always struck me as weird that such a blatantly christian addition to the pledge was allowed in initially, and then allowed to stay there this long. I realize that "god" can be used to refer to the dieties of non-christian faiths, but the pledge still forces unwanted spirituality into some people's patriotism.

On a sad note, Wolfram told mel today that the technical writer position she was seeking had been filled, and not by her. It's quite a letdown given that they were initially very enthusastic about quickly giving her a job. I feel really bad for her, since this will just make her more stressed than usual and give her more cause to worry. The poor girl worries too much already.
