Mel and I rented Days of Thunder and Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone. Mel hadn't seen Days of Thunder, which I found suprising, given that she's a big Nascar fan. It's been a long time since I'd seen it, and in the past ~10 years, my movie trivia knowledge has improved enough that I now notice that it's basically the same movie as Top Gun:

  1. Tom Cruise becomes the best.
  2. Tom Cruise causes an accident that stops his best friend from doing what they do.
  3. Tom Cruise gets scared and feels guilty and can't bring himself to try.
  4. Tom Cruise falls in love and regains his confidence.
  5. Tom Cruise beats the arrogant guy with pointy blonde hair to be the best again.

I'd not seen Harry Potter nor have I read any of the books. It's a remarkably clever tale, and I can't help but like any movie that gives Alan Rickman a big part.

But we ended up staying up too late watching the movies, and I was late to work this morning. When I got to work, I saw that the IRC channel had been talking. They're funny guys.
