Great Day (1 comment)
I woke up early today, thanks to a megaphone in the hallway telling me not to use any water. It seems that a water main (sewage, actually) exploded in the basement of Daniels this morning. So I was left with an MP to write and no means to shower or even brush my teeth. But luckily, my room was scheduled to have the bathroom cleaned today, so they turned my water back on relatively quickly (before the rest of the dorm) and I was able to get a shower before my RSC LTMD meeting. We actually discussed the outage at our meeting, since the break in the main was actually in the wall of the room that houses our switches, and they were sprayed with a light mist of sewage. Hopefully, that'll be a good enough example for the bureaucracy to believe us when we say we don't want networking equipment next to big pipes in the future.
But after all that was over, I finished the MP and went to dinner with some friends, followed by Requiem for a Dream (thus culminating the rerun film series). Requiem is one of my favorite movies, and Mel hadn't seen it. I dragged her along, and I expect she's still contemplating what she thinks of it (I know it took me a while after my first time).
