ck's archive: my beef with portal

I resolved to put aside my Steam boycott on Saturday and bought Portal. The internet has been gushing about Portal for months, so I'll spare a retread of that territory and simply agree with the people who have said all the nice things about the game.

But I've resumed my Steam boycott. I simply find it insulting that a game I've purchased and installed on my computer requires me to authenticate on every launch so it can ask its publisher if they'd like to allow me to play it. I expect this boycott to last approximately until Portal 2's release. If it's nearly as good as Portal, I'll likely fold and do all this over again.
